HOW TO BECOME A SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT(SME)

This post is my own experience of becoming an subject matter expert at Chegg. 1.REGISTRATION

Chegg Subject matter registration can be done here. Fill up all your basic information in the form and complete your mobile and mail verification. Select the subject accordingly, as you will be screened in that subject.

STEP 1 - Registration
STEP 2 - Subject Test (60% passing, only two attempts allowed)
STEP 3 - Guideline Training Access.
STEP 4 - Guideline Test (80% passing, only three attempts allowed)
STEP 5 - Upload verification documents
STEP 6 - Download & upload Engagement Letter
STEP 7 - Start Answering

2.ONLINE SCREENING

This would be the most important step I say , where you would be screened in accordance with your subject which you have selected in previous step. Basically I am an mechanical engineer and selected it as my core. I was tested on the basics of mechanical engineering , and it was of MCQ type with 15 questions with no time limit.As stated above you have to score 60% within two attempts in subject test and after getting the score you would be directed to attend Chegg guideline training access and it is of like open book exam and the pass percentage is 80% with three attempts allowed . This is normally done to maintain the standards of  the answers posted by you and avoid plagiarism.

You would get a mail on successful completion of online screening prompting you to upload supporting documents for verification.It usually takes two days for chegg team to get back to you with a mail.

3.START ANSWERING!!

You would be mailed the login credentials and that's it!! You can start answering the questions in your dashboard. 

After clicking Start answering questions you would be given an question along with 10 minutes times to decide whether you would be  answering this question or not and once you accept the question, you would be given 2 hours to compete the entire solution for the question,be sure to follow the Chegg guideline swill answering any questions to avoid your answer being termed void.

You can also skip question with proper reason.

4.PAYMENTS

Chegg usually pays on monthly basics with total tax deduction of 10%. Chegg as different payment rates for their advance and basic subjects.

• Computer science                - 197 Rs
• Mechanical Engineering     - 168 Rs
• Basic Maths                         -75 RS

Chegg would occasionally provide Bonus for questions answered at certain period of time depending upon the inflow of questions and I would say this would be a great earning opportunity, best time to capture maximum number of questions is from 1:00 AM – 8:00 AM in India as the students posting questions are mostly(US) from different time zone .
